All-New Designs We're not new to making Walleye rods, but when we set out to design the Addiction Walleye line, we looked carefully at products we've produced in the past. We then consulted with local, regional and national professionals. We consulted with fishing guides, and industry insiders who know the fishing market. We consulted with weekend anglers, and guys that spend more time in their boat than they do at home. We consulted our reps, our retailers, and our distributors. Everyone had some input that went into the design and concept that resulted in a rod that will make you itch to get one on the water!
Spiral Helix Carbon Fiber Back in 2007 we devised a technique for rolling blanks that involved using two different carbon fiber prepreg cloths, and assembling them on the mandrel that resulted in very unique properties. This technique is what allowed us to produce ultra-lightweight blanks, with tips of varying degrees of softness - without being brittle. We called it Spiral Helix Carbon Fiber, and it's a very real method to making our unique blanks. We're confident enough to put our blank quality, sensitivity, and actions up against rods costing 2 and 3 times more, and come out ahead.
For the Addiction product lines, we returned to this method of rolling blanks. We had great success with it in the past, and it offers the best chance of producing the exact action we were looking for with each specifically designed model.
304 Stainless Guide Rings It's beginning to become a recurring theme with our rods. We've found that there really isn't any match to the lightweight, durable guides we've grown attached to, as have many of our customers. Feedback over the years has been overwhelmingly positive, and when we needed a durable and lightweight guide for Addiction Walleye, we naturally turned to a guide we know works, and well. They run all types of line, without grooving, and the sandwich design means the rings don't ever pop out.
Rubber Cork Handles We love good cork, as do most anglers. However cork has some serious drawbacks. All cork is made with some filler, some more than others. When cork handles are wet, left in the sun, and they age, the filler degrades and falls out. This leaves your cork handle pocked and looking in rough shape, and not feeling so fine anymore.
We wanted a better handle, so we turned to a material known as Rubber Cork. It's a 50-50 mix of ground up natural cork and rubber, with some epoxy, and molded into the shape of a handle. Rubber cork doesn't degrade in the sun and water like cork does, so your handles will look as good as new 5 years from now. Also, rubber cork naturally gives you more grip, so your rods won't slip if your hands are wet, or you have some slime from that fish you just landed. They're also more durable, so you can use them in rod holders just as well.
All-New HD Reel Seats Most people don't think about their reel seat unless it's giving them problems. We thought about it before it gives you a problem, and what we found is there's no substitute for a reel seat that can accomodate all your reels and be able to hold them securely. We tested our new heavy duty reel seats with dozens of reels, and found they all locked down tightly, and easily. On the long trolling rods, we added an oversized trigger, to help when using larger round trolling reels that have a lot more weight. It will feel better in your hand, and give you more torque.
Precise Hand-Tailored Actions No feature of a rod is more important and personal than the action. If you don't like it, or it doesn't suit the use of the rod, you won't like using that rod and it isn't going to help you land fish. With all our design consultation, we were flooded with opinions on what rod people really thought had the best action. We ended up testing them all on our deflection table in the lab, marking each one carefully, then coming up with our own unique curve that incorporated some of the more important characteristics of each. The result is each of our rod actions is so unique, you will not find it anywhere else on the market. We're also sure you'll like it so much, you won't be able to put it down. That's been the result in closed field testing. |
